Protecting wood - every few years you have to take care
You probably know the problem: Every now and then you have to protect wood outdoors from environmental influences such as high humidity, rain and snow, and to do this you have to reach for a brush and wood preservative stain, oil or wood preservative paint. Sometimes you have to paint several times to have peace for a few years - until the paint slowly flakes off again! With AREXAL® HYDRO-Wood, a single application on the wood is sufficient to have lifelong protection, as the crystalline penetrates up to 2 cm deep into the material, bonds with it and thus seals, whereby existing moisture can still escape (diffuse).
Features of AREXAL® HYDRO-Wood:
- environmentally friendly
- resistant to salt water and acids
- longer life of the wood
- diffusion-open and UV-resistant
- reduced flammability of the wood
- long shelf life with a single treatment
water, lithium silicates, silanes (catalyst)
Area of application:
Applicable on all untreated wood species except
Wood with high tannin content (e.g. oak), ready for use.
The removal of all old coats is necessary to allow the product to penetrate unhindered. If there is a coating under the applied HYDRO-Wood, this old coating will either be pressed out by HYDRO-Wood or HYDRO-Wood will not be able to bond with the wood fibres and thus will not protect the wood. Untreated wood does not require any preparation. Water based paints must be applied before HYDRO-Wood treatment. Afterwards, no more paint application is possible. It is recommended to protect all metallic surfaces and not to use metal storage containers.
The product can be applied either with a brush, roller, spray bottle or low-pressure gun (max. 5 bar), the outside temperature must be at least +5 degrees Celsius. Shake well before use and do not mix with other liquids (voiding the warranty). Always apply vertical surfaces from bottom to top. If you are not sure whether your object has a primer, try HYDRO-Wood on a concealed area. The yield of HYDRO-Wood depends on the porosity of the wood. Normally, a single application is sufficient to saturate the wood. The wood must be well moistened on each side, if drops are formed or too much has been applied. The penetration depth of Hydro-Wood is 2-5 mm depending on the type of wood and surface structure. Hardwood is more compact, here the liquid penetrates less deeply, so less HYDRO-Wood is needed. Touching is possible after 30 minutes, after 2-4 hours the wood can be walked on well. Complete drying out after about 3 weeks.
Remove excess liquid that no longer penetrates with rubber lip or cloth before curing. Clean tools with water.
Eye and long-term skin contact must be avoided. Wear protective gloves as a precaution.
