ILKA® snow and ice-free is an excellent and environmentally friendly de-icing solution and the alternative to conventional road salt. Did you know that this granulate is effective up to -50 °C and a conventional road salt only up to -7 °C? The ILKA® snow and ice free granulate generates heat by itself and has a hygroscopic structure. What does this mean? When snow and ice have thawed away, a non-freezing thin protective layer remains on the ground. As long as it does not snow again and with normal ice formation, the snow and ice-free granules have a lasting effect for up to three days and can therefore also be used preventively.
How does ILKA® snow and ice-free granules work?
The effect and the required amount depend on the thickness of the snow or ice layer. In the case of frost and thin layers of ice, these disappear in minutes. For thicker layers of ice, the thawing time can be up to 1 hour. From the very beginning, it is very important to apply a sufficient amount of ILKA®-Schnee und Eisfrei, because while the agent is working, it is diluted by the existing snow or ice water, which is, after all, initially prevented from freezing. Therefore, if too small an amount is used, the effect will quickly diminish due to the dilution, causing the surface to freeze again. Therefore, below you will find a table with approximate quantities.

Free of snow and ice while being kind to people, animals and the environment
Since the granules are not corrosive and flammable, they do not attack sidewalks, flagstones, shoe soles and sensitive dog paws. It is therefore clearly superior to conventional road salt and more economical in consumption. ILKA® Snow and Ice Free Granules are also easy to handle with spreading machines and vehicles. Thanks to its low corrosiveness, it can be spread with equipment made of a wide variety of materials. Currently, disc spreaders are the most widely used spreading technology.

Clear sidewalks of the coarsest snow and ice as usual. Then sprinkle ILKA snow and ice-free granules evenly on the surface to be treated. Please wear gloves when doing so.
Please dose as follows:
For thin layer of ice is enough about 20 g / m²
For thicker ice layer to about 100 g / m²
Thanks to the independent heat development of ILKA snow and ice-free granules, the ice thaws afterwards by itself.
